BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior midfielder Bri Folds has been named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
The award marks the first time Folds has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and the second time she has been recognized by the conference in her career. She was previously named the SEC Freshman of the Week in 2016.
Folds scored in both contests last week and tied a program record with a goal in four straight contests. She became the ninth player in program history to accomplish the feat, including the first since Casie Ramsier in 2016.
The Lakeland, Florida, native turned in a season-high three points in a 2-0 win vs. Syracuse Thursday. She assisted on the game-winning goal against the Orange and later converted one of her own as she hit a left-footed chip from 20 yards out to double the Tigers' advantage.
Three days later, Folds stepped up and buried her third penalty kick of the season in a 3-0 win against Troy. Folds not only matched the program record for consecutive matches with a goal, but the goal also marked the 22nd of her career, placing her in a tie for ninth in program history.
Through five contests, the senior leads the team with four goals and nine points.
