Earlier this year, Cydney Clanton became the first former Auburn women's golfer to win an LPGA event. Over the weekend, Clanton's former teammate Marta Sanz Barrio added another first-place finish at the pro level as she won the IOA Golf Classic on the Symetra Tour.

Sanz Barrio opened the tournament, played at Alaqua Country Club, with a 7-under 64 and then followed that with two more rounds under par (67, 69) as she led wire-to-wire and finished the weekend at 13-under par.

"It is extremely sweet and I'm really happy with the win," Sanz Barrio told Symetra Tour Communications. "I needed it for a chance to make the top 10 this year. I feel that my game is the best it has been all season, so I'm ready to keep fighting and hopefully get into that group."

With the victory, Sanz Barrio climbed 14 spots to No. 13 in the Volvik Race for the Card. The top 10 golfers at the end of the season earn their LPGA Tour Card.

This is the second career Symetra Tour win for Sanz Barrio, who also finished first at the 2018 FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship last year.

While at Auburn, Sanz Barrio won the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in 2011. She was twice named second-team All-SEC and also made the All-SEC freshman year her first year. She ranks seventh all-time in program history with a career stroke average of 74.61.
