Tigers return to Auburn Arena for contest with Alabama

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn volleyball team opens October back home in Auburn Arena, hosting in-state rival Alabama Wednesday night at 7 p.m. CT. The Tigers and the Tide will go head-to-head on SEC Network and admission is free.

"With this rivalry, it's always going to bring a lot of excitement," head coach Rick Nold said. "Being home is going to be exciting - the rivalry aspect just adds to it. We've got to get in and work to get better. We need the crowd to give us some support and confidence to get back on the right track." 

PROMOTIONS
It is 90s Night in Auburn Arena! The first 200 fans will receive an Auburn volleyball 90s hat and 90s music will be played throughout the match.

In addition, Kid's Zone will be set up with a coloring station, Connect Four and Giant Jenga. In addition, shakers will be available at the promotions table while supplies last.

QUICK HITS
-Auburn (6-7, 0-2 SEC) opened Southeastern Conference play on the road, falling in a pair of three-set matches to No. 12 Florida and South Carolina.
- Sophomore Tatum Shipes led Auburn against the Gamecocks with 12 kills, adding eight digs in the contest.
- Junior libero Payton White had a team-best 10 digs vs. SC, reaching double-digit digs for the 10th time in 13 matches this season.

SCOUTING ALABAMA
- The Alabama Crimson Tide come in at 9-4 (1-1 SEC) after splitting the opening weekend of SEC play. The Tide fell in four sets at Texas A&M before bouncing back in a five-set match against Arkansas.
- Freshman Alyiah Wells leads the SEC in blocks with 56, while also ranking sixth in hitting percentage with a .367 clip.
- Kaylee Thomas, a junior libero, sits at eighth among SEC defenders with 186 digs (3.96 per set) so far on the year.

A WIN OVER ALABAMA WOULD...
-  Be Auburn's first win over the Crimson Tide since defeating UA in five sets in 2017.

AUBURN-ALABAMA SERIES
- Alabama leads the all-time series with a 48-32 mark, including an 18-15 record on The Plains.
