AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn volleyball returns home for a pair of matches this weekend, welcoming No. 25 Missouri, Oct. 18, and Georgia, Oct. 20.
"We had a great week of practice," head coach Rick Nold said. "We've got to translate that to the games. You have to think about the process and what's going to keep getting you better."
QUICK HITS
- Auburn (6-10, 0-5 SEC) fell in three sets to Ole Miss last Sunday in Oxford.
- Sophomore Val Green led the Tigers with 10 kills, while junior Chesney McClellan hit .421 with nine kills on 19 attempts and just one error.
- Freshman Lily Thomason earned the first start of her career, tying a career best with eight kills in the match.
- Sophomore Tatum Shipes set a career high defensively, leading Auburn with 18 digs.
UP NEXT
Auburn heads back on the road, traveling to Mississippi State and Arkansas to close out October. The Tigers and the Bulldogs will go head-to-head at 8 p.m. CT in Starkville, Oct. 25. The match will be televised on SEC Network. Auburn closes out the month at Arkansas, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. CT.
PROMOTIONS
Friday night is Kid's Night! All kids in attendance will be invited on the court to take a picture with the team post-match. A prize wheel will be set up in the Scholarship Entrance for kids to win awesome Auburn Tigers prizes.
Sunday is All Auburn, All Orange inside of Auburn Arena. The first 300 fans will receive an orange Auburn volleyball t-shirt and orange shakers will be available while they last. In addition, mini pumpkin painting will be available for children in attendance. The team will also be signing autographs postgame.
SCOUTING MISSOURI
- The Missouri Tigers come in at 10-4 (2-2 SEC) after falling in four sets to Ole Miss last Sunday.
- Junior Kylie Deberg leads the Southeastern Conference in total kills (268), kills per set (5.14), total aces (31), aces per set (0.60), total points (314.5) and points per set (6.05).
- Sophomore setter Andrea Fuentes leads the conference in assists, averaging 11.40 helpers per set.
- Offensively, Mizzou is swinging at a .311 clip and is the only team in the SEC swinging over a .300 mark.
- As a team, the Tigers lead the SEC in kills averaging 14.19 per set and totaling 738 on the season.
SCOUTING GEORGIA
- The Georgia Bulldogs come in at 13-4 (5-1 SEC) after picking up a pair of five-set victories over Kentucky and LSU.
- Junior libero Kendall Glover reached 1,000 career digs in the Bulldogs win over Kentucky with a career-high 27 digs.
- Junior Rachel Ritchie eclipsed the 1,000 career kill mark on the last point of the match against LSU.
- As a team, the Dawgs are third in both kills (13.78 avg/s) and assist (12.94 avg/s) in the SEC.
- Kacie Evans was named the SEC Freshman of the Week averaged 3.65 points, 3.00 kills and 2.00 digs per set in wins at No. 12 Kentucky and over LSU this past weekend.
