BATON ROUGE, La. – Action got underway Thursday for two Auburn women's tennis student-athletes at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, hosted by LSU.

Freshman Caraline Scheufler picked up a victory in the first round of qualifying singles with a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 win over UAB's Dominika Hrabalova. She then dropped her second round match to Southern Miss' Ebru Yazgan, 6-1, 6-4.

Junior Lindsay Song dropped a pair of matches, falling to Jacksonville State's Cristina Moll Alles, 6-4, 6-3, then dropping a three-setter to McNeese's Carlotta Romito, 0-6, 6-3, 1-0 (2).

Scheufler and Song also played in the qualifying doubles draw, dropping an 8-1 decision to Ugarte/Beltrame of Samford.

Main draw action begins Friday with all eight Auburn student-athletes in action. Doubles play gets underway at 9 a.m. CT, followed by one round of singles play. Results will be updated at LSUsports.net throughout the day.
