WINDERMERE, Fla. – The No. 16 Auburn men's golf team shot 4-over (292) in the first round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational Sunday afternoon. The Tigers are tied for ninth after 18 holes at the Isleworth Country Club.
Jovan Rebula led the way for Auburn and is tied for 12th after his first circuit of the par-72, 7,544-yard course at 1-under (71). The senior found success on the par-5s as he produced a par or better on all four holes that stretched 558 yards or more. The George, South Africa native is just four shots off the lead entering the second day.
Brandon Mancheno is also in the top 20 as he shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 19th. After a shooting 1-over on his first four holes, the junior rattled off eight straight pars and tallied a pair of birdies on his final six holes.
Graysen Huff racked up a team-best 15 pars on the day. Despite going 3-over on the front nine, the senior secured a clean back nine that featured eight pars and a birdie. He is tied for 37th at 2-over (74).
Andrew Kozan and Alex Vogelsong rounded out the Tiger contingent. Kozan is tied for 46th at 3-over (75), while Vogelsong is tied for 61st at 5-over (77). The duo combined for six birdies, each notching a birdie on the front nine and two on the back nine.
UCF leads the field at 8-under (280), followed by Florida (285), LSU (287), Cal (287) and Minnesota (288).
Auburn is paired with Illinois and Texas Tech for the second round Monday morning, beginning at 7 a.m. CT off the No. 1 tee box. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
