AUBURN, Ala. – A week after Julie Meynen won SEC Women's Swimmer of Week, the Auburn swimming and diving programs earned two more weekly SEC honors Tuesday following their men's and women's sweep of LSU over the weekend.
Senior Alison Maillard was named the SEC Women's Diver of the Week after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions in Saturday's meet. Maillard scored 326.55 points in the 1-meter event, coming up just nine points shy of the all-time Auburn record. She then scored another season high in the 3-meter event with 323.78 points.
Maillard earned 18 total points between her two victories to help Auburn take its first head-to-head meet in convincing fashion with a 185-108 win over LSU.
On the men's side, Jack Armstrong received SEC Men's Freshman of the Week honors following a standout performance in his first collegiate meet. The freshman from Manvel, Texas, won the 100 free, finishing in 44.68. He also swam the first leg on the team's 400-freestyle relay that took first place and swam anchor on the 200-medley relay team that finished second.
Between the individual events and the relays, Armstrong helped Auburn score a total of 26 points in Saturday's 187-111 victory to open the 2019-20 season.
The Auburn women will be back in the pool this Saturday as they travel to Arkansas to face another SEC opponent. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT. The following weekend it will be the men's turn with a men's only meet at Navy on Saturday, Nov. 2.
