AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior guard Daisa Alexander and junior forward Unique Thompson earned selections to the coaches' preseason All-SEC team, which was released Tuesday by the conference office.

Alexander, a senior from Decatur, Ga., is Auburn's leading returning scorer from last season after averaging 12.6 points per game. Alexander was also the Tigers' top 3-point shooter, knocking down 60-of-166 attempts (38.9%) and enters her senior year with 102 career made 3s, 10th on the all-time Auburn list. She is also one of the league's top defensive players, finishing second in the SEC in steals with 74 (3.2/game), her second straight year to finish in the league's top two in that category.

Thompson, a junior from Theodore, Ala., became the first Auburn player since 2009 and the fifth in program history to average a double-double for the season, averaging 12.2 points and 10.3 rebounds as a sophomore in 2018-19. Her 330 total rebounds last season were the fourth-most in program history and the highest individual total for an Auburn player since the 1992-93 season. She enters her junior year with 20 career double-doubles, which ranks seventh in Auburn history. Thompson was also a second-team preseason All-SEC pick by the league's media, which was released earlier this month.

In a poll of the league's coaches, the Tigers were picked to finish eighth overall in the SEC; the media poll tabbed the Tigers seventh. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team or players.

The Tigers open the season at home Wednesday, Nov. 6, against Wofford. Auburn will play 13 home games during the 2019-20 season.
