AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn senior Alison Maillard was named SEC Diver of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It's the second straight week she has received the honor.
Maillard, who won both diving events two weeks ago against LSU, once again finished first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions this past Saturday at Arkansas. The team captain scored 318.15 points in the 1-meter and 314.78 points in the 3-meter, finishing 50 or more points ahead of the next best diver in each event.
Her two wins helped the Tigers secure a 194.5-101.5 victory over Arkansas.
"We're real proud of her performance both against LSU and against Arkansas," Auburn head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "I think she's well ahead of where she was a year ago. I think she's starting to develop the consistency in her big dives that are going to allow her to continue to improve and contend for SEC and NCAA honors."
Maillard earned CSCAA All-America honors following last year and following her freshman year in 2017 when she was also named the SEC Freshman Diver of the Year.
The senior from Houston, Texas, won eight springboard events through the dual meet season last year. She's already won four this year, and she also won the 1-meter competition at the SMU Women's Classic with 289.50 points.
Maillard's next opportunity to compete will be Nov. 21-23 when both the Auburn men's and women's programs travel to North Carolina for the Wolfpack Invitational.
The men travel to Navy this Saturday for a men's only meet, beginning at 11 a.m. CT.
