AUBURN, Ala. – Freshman Olivia Tordoff and junior Deanna Green were recognized by the Southeastern Conference for their performances in September, being named the Horsemanship and Reining Riders of the Month, respectively.
Tordoff kicked off her freshman campaign with two big Horsemanship wins on the road. The Powell, Ohio product earned a 77-75.5 victory at No. 10 UT Martin (Sept. 19), securing the first MOP honor of her career. The 77 was the highest score of the day.
In addition, Tordoff closed out the weekend in Martin, Tenn., with a 76.5-71.5 win vs. No. 4 Oklahoma State (Sept. 20). Her five-point margin of victory was the most by any student-athlete on the day in Horsemanship.
Green picked up the monthly honor in Reining after going 2-0 against No. 10 UT Martin and No. 4 Oklahoma State. She opened with a 69-0 victory against UTM, helping the Tigers sweep the Skyhawks in the event.
Against the Cowgirls, Green received MOP honors as she edged her opponent by .5 with a 72.5-72 victory. Her 72.5 was the highest score earned by any Tiger in the event over the two days.
The Tigers will take a month off before returning to competition, opening up their home schedule at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. Auburn will host three teams, starting with three Hunter Seat contests between SUNY New Paltz, Sweet Briar and TCU, Oct. 18. The Tigers and the Horned Frogs will do a full meet the following day, Oct. 19.
