AuburnYOU - Total Student-Athlete Experience

AUBURN, Ala.  Designed to comprehensively develop Auburn student-athletes, the AuburnYOU program promotes personal growth, professional development and athletic success.

"From orientation to graduation and beyond, AuburnYOU commits to the holistic development of our student-athletes," Director of Athletics Allen Greene said. "AuburnYOU helps us deliver on our purpose of creating Auburn men and women. By utilizing these individual, team, department and community-wide resources, student-athletes will be empowered with an enhanced brand value that will set them apart in perpetuity."

AuburnYOU represents all the resources and support systems available to ensure Auburn's student-athletes succeed in competition, the classroom and in life.

Through sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition, counseling and sport psychology, academics, and student-athlete enhancement, AuburnYOU is a comprehensive, well-formed unit designed to support the total student-athlete experience.

AuburnYOU provides programming committed to every facet of the student-athlete experience in a four-year curriculum:

YearONE - Discovery and Direction
YearTWO - Explore and Experience
YearTHREE - Prepare and Market
YearFOUR - Transition and Succeed

In YearONE, the CONNECT freshmen transition series allows student-athletes to participate in events geared toward educating and supporting each individual as they navigate their first year of college athletics.

Focused on student-athlete health and welfare, sports nutrition basics, mental health awareness, career resources, introduction to financial literacy and personal and professional branding, these monthly topics align with consistent support and peer integration for first-year student-athletes.

As student-athletes become more comfortable in their environment, YearTWO and YearTHREE shift to a more exploratory focus. Providing programming that builds continued experience in each of the six areas of AuburnYOU and learning how they complement each other allows student-athletes to form their own best practices in personal, professional and performance enhancement.

Although consistent throughout, YearTHREE in particular places a heavy emphasis on branding and understanding how to utilize Auburn University's profile and the unique student-athlete experience to market oneself for internships, careers and a professional life after sport.

In YearFOUR, student-athletes are once again preparing for a transition. In addition to continued support for competition and educational success, AuburnYOU utilizes this stage to ensure they are prepared for success following their collegiate career when health and wellness, personal and professional branding, financial literacy and their overall environment will differ from their experience as a collegiate athlete. YearFOUR focuses on preparedness for a smooth, successful transition.

"Our team spent the past year working with SAAC leaders to evolve the AuburnYOU program by creating a curriculum intentionally designed to meet student-athletes where they are to achieve maximum benefits of the services provided," said Monique Holland, senior associate athletics director for student-athlete experience. "AuburnYOU aligns with Allen Greene's vision for Auburn Athletics and supports the commitment our coaches make to student-athletes and parents during the recruiting process."

Through this four-year curriculum and additional opportunities in leadership development, diversity and inclusion, Title IX, community service, and partnered initiatives with the University, the SEC and NCAA, AuburnYOU consistently supports student-athletes as they develop into Auburn men and women.
