BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn goalkeeper Kate Hart has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Hart, a graduate transfer from San Diego State, led the Tigers (6-4-2, 3-1-0 SEC) to the team's sixth shutout of the season, including its third in the last four contests, in a 2-0 win against LSU last Thursday.

The Huntington Beach, California, native recorded three saves in the contest and commanded the box as the visiting Tigers had seven corner kick opportunities.

Leading 1-0 in the second half, Hart made a pair of saves in one-on-one situations to preserve the lead. She made a diving save to her left in the 55th minute and deflected a straight-away shot near the penalty kick spot in the 65th minute to ultimately hold LSU scoreless.

The honor is the first of the year for Hart and the second weekly award of the season for Auburn. Midfielder Bri Folds was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9.

Hart and the Tigers travel to take on Mississippi State (6-5-1, 1-2-1 SEC) in Starkville, Mississippi, Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
