AUBURN, Ala. - Coach Bobby Reynolds has signed three highly touted additions to the Auburn men's tennis roster: Max Giddens, Finn Murgett and Jackson Ross.
"I am really excited about our three new additions to Auburn men's tennis," Coach Reynolds said. "To add No. 8 Max Giddens, No. 20 Jackson Ross, and the English national champion Finn Murgett to our team for 2020 speaks volumes about the direction of this program.
"We were able to build off our 2019 recruiting class that saw No. 5 Tyler Stice and No. 22 Spencer Gray embark on their collegiate journeys here at Auburn. If you really take a deep look into each of these players' tennis success, the commonality is where they started in the junior rankings and where they are today, with their best tennis still ahead."
Max Giddens -- Birmingham, Ala.
The No. 1 prospect in Alabama; currently No. 4 in the South; trained with Birmingham Tennis Academy; since very early in his tennis career, Max has always been among the top players in the country
High UTR: 13.08
High Tennis Recruiting: #8
ATP Doubles: 1765
Coach Reynolds says: "Max has been on my radar from the first day I was hired here at Auburn and I can't express how ecstatic I am he is choosing to be an Auburn Tiger. Taking many visits to opponents in our conference, the choice to stay close and to home and play tennis at Auburn will open many doors for him with our amazing alumni network. He embodies everything we are looking for in a recruit and I'm excited he will be wearing the orange and blue soon!"
Jackson Ross – San Antonio, Texas
Rated as the No. 3 prospect out of Texas (Blue Chip); trained with FIT HP Tennis Academy; serve has been clocked at 115 mph
High Tennis Recruiting: #20
High ITF: #283
High UTR: 12.88
Coach Reynolds says: "The first time I watched Jackson play a match, I knew we needed this guy on our team! His movement on the court caught my eye from a distance, and then his decision making and tenacity during the point stood out amongst players his same age. His work ethic and attention to detail are greater than most juniors his age, and those characteristics outweigh talent in the long run. His hard-work mentality leadership will be a huge addition to our team next year."
Finn Murgett – Holmfirth, Yorkshire, England
Won the 2019 U18 English junior national championships in August in singles and was a national doubles finalist; became the second British wild card to win a main draw match at the ProSeries Shrewsbury in September
High ITF: #312
High UTR: 12.85
ATP Singles: #1599
ATP Doubles: #1933
English National Champion
Coach Reynolds says: "Finn is a great addition to our team starting this January. He had the option to enroll early, and start his college tennis career off this spring and we can't wait for him to be on campus soon. Finn is probably one of the most balanced on-court tennis players I have seen for his age. His balance and speed on court make him a tough opponent to play. He will contribute not only in the singles line up this spring, but also in doubles with his aggressive returns and willingness to come forward to the net."
