Rebula one off program record as No. 19 Auburn leads at Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – Auburn senior Jovan Rebula was one stroke away from matching the lowest round in program history after firing an 8-under 64 in the first round of the East Bay Deli Classic Sunday afternoon.

Rebula's career-best round was just one stroke behind Kyle Kopsick (2009) and Trace Crowe (2018), who each shot a 9-under 63.

The George, South Africa native had a flawless 18 holes at the par-72 Turtle Point Country Club, racking up eight birdies and 10 pars.

As a team, the Tigers lead the field at 14-under (274), nine strokes ahead of second-place Augusta and 14 strokes ahead of third-place High Point.

Auburn boasts six players inside the top 10 after the first round, all who secured rounds under par.

Wells Padgett is just two strokes behind Rebula in second place and matched a career-low round with a 6-under (66). The junior also produced a round without a bogey, notching six birdies, including four on the back nine, and 12 pars.

Graysen Huff is tied for fifth following a 3-under 69. The senior tallied four birdies, spread evenly across the front and back nine.

One stroke back, Brandon Mancheno is tied for eighth after firing a 2-under 70. The junior fended off three bogeys with five birdies, including three over his final eight holes.

Alex Vogelsong and C.J. Easley round out the Tiger contingent inside the top 10 as the duo is tied for 10th after shooting a 1-under 71 each.

Andrew Kozan and Austin Coggin completed the Auburn lineup Monday and are tied for 34th and 87th at 1-over (73) and 6-over (78), respectively.

The Tigers are paired with Augusta, Charleston and High Point for the second round. Tee times begin at 8:20 a.m. CT with live scoring available on Golfstat.com.
