KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 19 Auburn men's golf team extended its lead to 17 strokes over the rest of the field after shooting a 6-under 282 in the second round of the East Bay Deli Classic Monday afternoon.
For the tournament, the Tigers are at 20-under (274-282--556) and are one of three teams under par along with Augusta at 3-under (573) and Charleston at 2-under (574) after two rounds at the par-72 Turtle Point Country Club.
Jovan Rebula once again led the way and leads the field of 121 individuals by eight strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.
Rebula shot a 6-under 66 to move to 14-under (64-66--130) for the week. The senior was on fire from the open tee as he birdied five of his first seven holes. He then closed the final 11 holes at 1-under. Rebula has just one bogey in 36 holes of play at Turtle Point CC.
Auburn has three more golfers in the top 10 as Graysen Huff is tied for seventh at 3-under (69-72--141), while C.J. Easley (71-71--142) and Brandon Mancheno (70-72--142) are tied for ninth at 2-under.
The trio combined for nine birdies, including six on the back nine, to go along with 38 pars on the day.
Alex Vogelsong shot an even-par 72 to move into a tie for 13th at 1-under (71-72--143). The freshman shook off two bogeys in the first four holes and shot 2-under the rest of the round.
Wells Padgett (66-80--146) and Andrew Kozan (73-74--147) are tied for 29th and 39th, respectively.
Austin Coggin rounded out the lineup and is tied for 87th at 8-over (78-74--152).
The Tigers begin their final round of the fall Tuesday when they tee off with Augusta, Charleston and High Point in a shotgun start, beginning at 8 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
