AUBURN, Ala. – A total of 12 home matches, including the annual rivalry showdown with Alabama, highlight the Auburn women's tennis 2020 spring schedule, announced by head coach Caroline Lilley today.
Lilley and the Tigers head into the dual match slate on the heels of a successful fall season that saw four individuals earn national rankings heading into the spring.
"Our schedule will offer all competitive opportunities for us to develop and grow throughout the season," Lilley said. "As the coaching staff, our goal is to make sure our spring matches put us in situations where we can grow in emotional intelligence through navigating adversity. We can't wait to start in January!"
Auburn will open the season at the Spring Invitational in Orlando Jan. 10-12. Dual match play begins the following week with a home doubleheader against Central Arkansas and UAB at the Yarbrough Tennis Center on Jan. 18. The next weekend sees the Tigers head to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the ITA Kickoff Weekend; Auburn will face North Carolina in the opening round Jan. 24 and either Old Dominion or Columbia the next day.
A three-match weekend kicks off February as Georgia State and Alabama A&M visit on Feb. 1, and the Tigers host Memphis the following day. After the ITA National Team Championships the following week, non-conference play wraps up at the annual Blue-Gray Classic in Montgomery Feb. 21-22.
SEC play begins with a pair of home matches against South Carolina and Florida (Feb. 28-March 1). After a road weekend at Vanderbilt and Kentucky, the Tigers return home for three straight against Alabama (March 14), Mississippi State (March 19) and Ole Miss (March 21). Road matches at Arkansas and Missouri close out the month.
The home season concludes April 2-4 with matches against Texas A&M and LSU, and regular-season play wraps up the following weekend at Tennessee and Georgia. The SEC Tournament begins April 15 in Tuscaloosa.
All home matches are played at the Yarbrough Tennis Center off Richland Rd. in Auburn. Admission is free to all home matches.
