AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's Zakoby McClain and Anders Carlson earned SEC player of the week honors for their roles in the Tigers' 48-45 Iron Bowl win Saturday.
McClain, the SEC Defensive Player of the Week, returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown and made a game-high 11 tackles, including a tackle for loss.
Carlson, the SEC Special Teams Player of the Week, connected on all four of his field goal attempts, from 43, 52, 43 and 44 yards.
Despite another outstanding performance that featured seven tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss, Derrick Brown did not earn Defensive Lineman of the Week honors, which went to Florida's Jonathan Greenard, who had three sacks against Florida State. Brown and Marlon Davidson combined to win the D-line award seven times in 2019, with Davidson prevailing 4-3 in their individual battle.
McClain, a 6-0 sophomore linebacker, also earned national defensive player of the week honors from Athlon Sports.
