As the offseason rolls along, we'd like to introduce the newcomers for the upcoming 2020 softball season. With first pitch set for Feb. 7 in Clearwater, Fla., at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, we'll check in with all 13 new additions to the squad.
On deck is Jadia Jones.
Q: Who has influenced your softball career the most?
Jones: My parents. They always push me to be the best that I can be, and they believe in me when no one else will.
Q: What's your biggest goal for yourself this season?
Jones: Since I am mainly a slapper, my goal is to be confident enough to stand in the box without slapping and get my first hit off of a Division I pitcher.
Q: What three adjectives would you use to describe yourself?
Jones: I'd say friendly, reserved, and organically funny. People say I'm funny without trying to be.
Q: What's your favorite aspect of softball?
Jones: Making new friends from all around the world!
Q: What is an interesting fact about yourself that the Auburn Family should know?
Jones: I like to do karaoke!
Q: What is a song that always gets in you in the gameday mood?
Jones: A song that gets me hype is "Monster" by Kanye West.
Q: What's your major and what do you plan to do with it after college?
Jones: My major is Psychology. I plan on being a sports or counseling psychologist.
Q: What's your favorite home-cooked meal?
Jones: My favorite is when my dad makes sweet corn. It is amazing.
Q: What is the most exciting thing about softball?
Jones: Being able to make a great play that gets everyone on the team pumped, or if not me making the play, then any of my teammates making one is awesome.
Q: If you could give a message to the Auburn Family, what would it be?
Jones: Get ready for this season. It's going to be a good one!
