Jen Kasper brought a wealth of experience and success to the Plains when she arrived from Elgin, Ill., this fall. The freshman has competed in Reining in every meet so far this season, having a 4-3 record on the year and a career-best 76.5 in October.
Q: Do you have any pre-meet superstitions?
A: I am not superstitious per se, but I do prefer to saddle the horse I am riding before the competition.
Q: What is the best vacation you've ever been on?
A: I loved going to Hawaii where I went snorkeling and swam with manta rays and dolphins!
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
A: Anything with dark chocolate, caramel, or sea salt!
Q: If you could no longer ride a horse at your meets, what animal would you choose and why?
A: I think it would be super fun to ride a giraffe.
Q: What is your go-to salad dressing?
A: I use French dressing.
Q: Are you currently watching anything on Netflix?
A: The Blacklist
Q: What is your favorite Auburn sport other than equestrian?
A: Probably basketball because I used to play and so I am familiar with the game.
Q: If you're stranded on a deserted island, what three teammates do you bring with you and why?
A: I would choose: Kayla Shelnutt – she can do everything from super good makeup to cutting hair and a lot more stuff that would probably be helpful on an island. Mary McDaniel – because she has great cooking skills. Boo Kammerer – strictly for entertainment purposes.
Q: What is your favorite fruit and least favorite vegetable?
A: My favorite fruit is watermelon and my least favorite vegetable is tomatoes.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: My favorite is rolling Toomer's Corner. It is such a fun way to celebrate a win with the whole school.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: I would choose to be able to transport from place to place immediately without travel by car or plane.
Q: Why did you choose Auburn for equestrian?
A: Among many more reasons, I love that Coach Greg Williams has so much drive behind pushing the sport to a bigger platform and how successfully he runs the program. This is such an amazing group of girls and I have never wanted to be anywhere else.
Q: If you could ask your horse three questions, what would they be?
A: If I was talking to a horse I would ask them:

How can I help you to perform to your best ability?
Where do you want to live/what do you want to do when you are done showing?
Q: What is your major and what do you plan to do with it?
A: I am a pre-business major. I am planning on majoring in Marketing. I am open to options, but have been recently looking into being a PR manager.
