AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn equestrian team earned the top seed in four of five categories for the 2019 National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship, the NCEA Selection Committee announced Tuesday.

The Tigers hold the overall No. 1 seed as a team as well as the top slot in Equitation Over Fences, Equitation on the Flat and Horsemanship. The squad is seeded sixth in Reining.

The nation's top eight teams will vie for the NCEA National Championship, April 17-20, at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. Auburn's path to its second-straight national title starts Thursday, April 18, as the Tigers are slated to face No. 8 TCU.

The week kicks off April 17 with the first round of the event championships. Reining will face off with No. 11 seed Fresno State, while the other three events will receive a bye. Auburn captured the Equitation Over Fences and Horsemanship titles as well as the overall Hunt Seat and Western crowns in 2018.

Since the first NCEA Team National Championship in 2002, Georgia has won the most overall team titles with six, followed by Auburn (5), South Carolina (3) and Texas A&M (3).
