AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn enters the 2019 season ranked No. 16 in the Associated Press college football poll.
It's the fifth time in seven seasons under head coach Gus Malzahn that Auburn has been ranked in the preseason poll. Auburn was ranked No. 6 in 2014 and 2015, No. 12 in 2017 and No. 9 in 2018.
It's the 39th time Auburn has been ranked in the preseason AP poll since it began in 1950, and the Tigers' 36th time to begin the season ranked in the top 20.
The Tigers will face six opponents ranked in the top 12, beginning with the season opener against No. 11 Oregon on Aug. 31 in the AdvoCare Classic in Arlington, Texas.
Auburn plays at No. 12 Texas A&M on Sept. 21, at No. 8 Florida on Oct. 5, and at No. 6 LSU on Oct. 26.
Auburn will host No. 3 Georgia on Nov. 16 and No. 2 Alabama on Nov. 30.
Auburn also ranks No. 16 in the preseason USA Today coaches' poll.
