Andreas Mies continues to have an unbelievable year on the ATP Tour. Already winners of the New York Open and the French Open at Roland Garros, Mies and his doubles partner Kevin Krawietz made it to the semifinals of the U.S. Open. Mies and Krawietz fought valiantly in the semis, losing two highly contested sets that both went to tiebreakers. The experience at the U.S. Open is something Mies has dreamed of since his childhood.

"It's a dream come true to be able to play in the U.S. Open," said Mies. "During my four years at Auburn, I always dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player and playing at the U.S. Open. It came true last week, and it is such an honor for me."

Mies has also noticed the support the Auburn family has shown. From old coaches and teammates to the outpouring of support on social media, Mies appreciates all the words of encouragement.

"It just means a lot to me. They showed our semifinal match here on the big screen at Jordan-Hare and it's just unbelievable. It's something you dream of as a kid playing in these big tournaments and to get recognized like this at the football game is incredible. They've supported me so well and it's nice."

There is still plenty of work left for the No. 4 doubles team of Mies and Krawietz on the season. The tandem is heading back home to Germany to practice for a couple of weeks before playing in Asia and finishing the season in Europe.
