AUBURN, Ala. – A busy fall slate awaits the Auburn women's tennis team as head coach Caroline Lilley announced the Tigers' 2019 fall schedule Friday.
The Tigers will have players competing in as many as 10 events during the fall season, including three Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournaments and a pair of professional circuit events.
Fall play begins at home with the second annual Marliss Gruver Fall Invitational, which will take place Sept. 20-22 at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. The Tigers will welcome players from Notre Dame, Kansas, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Wisconsin and Penn State for the three-day event. Admission is free to all Auburn home tennis events.
Auburn will head to Texas for the next two tournaments, beginning with the Rice Invitational Sept. 27-29 in Houston. Auburn will then send players to the Baylor H.E.B. Invite in Waco Oct. 4-6 while others may qualify for the ITA All-American Championships, which run Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla.
The Tigers will then head to Baton Rouge, La., for the ITA Southern Regional Championships, which will run Oct. 17-22 on campus at LSU. Two more tournaments wrap up the slate in November with the Dick Vitale Invitational Nov. 1-3 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., and the Seminole All-Conference Showdown Nov. 8-10 in Tallahassee. Auburn players could also qualify for the ITA Fall Championships, which run Nov. 6-10 in Newport Beach, Calif.
Two professional events are also on the schedule with selected players competing in International Tennis Federation tournaments in Lubbock (Sept. 16-22) and Austin (Oct. 21-27).
Auburn returns five letter-winners and welcomes three newcomers for the 2019-20 season, the first under Lilley.
