Freshman Paige Matthies was already a decorated rider prior to coming to the Plains. And now, the Lake Leelanau, Mich., product adds depth and experience to the talent Auburn Jumping Seat corps. With two wins already under her belt, including one against then-No. 5 TCU, Paige is on her way to being a solid scorer for the Tigers in the second half of the season.

Q: Why did you choose Auburn for equestrian?
A: I not only fell in love with the school and campus, but I love the team and coaches as well.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
A: Spend time with friends.

Q: If you could explain your hometown using three adjectives what would they be?
A: Quaint, delightful, friendly.

Q: What do you do before a meet to prepare?
A: I spend a lot of time practicing and try to keep myself relaxed by listening to music.

Q: What's your favorite animal?
A: Dogs.

Q: What was the name of the horse you rode growing up?
A: My first pony was named Stella!

Q: What is your ideal vacation?
A: Spending time in nature with a few close friends.

Q: What do you love most about Auburn's campus so far?
A: The Wellness Kitchen.

A: Rolling Toomer's Corner after a big win.

A: Steak.

A: Being able to learn new patterns quickly.
