AUBURN, Ala. – Former Auburn soccer player Ellie Leek signed a professional contract with Lewes FC of the English Isthmian League Premier Division, the club announced last week.
"I've heard great things about the Dripping Pan, and I'm really excited to experience the fans and the atmosphere that everybody speaks so highly about at Lewes," Leek said in a team press release.
Leek is one of four former Tigers currently playing professional soccer. The other three players are Julie King (Orlando Pride – 2019), Bianca Sierra (Tigres UANL – Mexico) and Ana Cate (HK/Vikingur – Iceland).
Leek joins Lewes after most recently competing for Charlton Athletic of the EFL and previously playing for Le Havre of Ligue 2.
A native of Torfaen, Wales, Leek played in 80 career games for head coach Karen Hoppa and helped lead the Tigers to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's first trip to the Sweet 16 and Elite 8. She registered 27 points on eight goals and 11 assists.
