AUBURN, Ala. – Sophomore Derrian Gobourne was named the SEC Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
The Sarasota, Fla., product won two event titles and finished second in the third event to help the Tigers top No. 10 Alabama Friday night. The win was the team's second over Alabama in the last three meetings inside Auburn Arena and extended the squad's home win streak to six.
After scoring a 9.875 on vault to finish second overall, Gobourne followed with a career-high 9.925 on bars to take the title. Then, as the final competitor of the night on floor, Gobourne sealed the team victory with a 9.95 to tie her career high.
The No. 20 Tigers head to No. 7 LSU Friday for a 7:30 p.m. meet in Baton Rouge. The contest is set to be aired on SEC Network.
