Auburn baseball 2020 signing class: Carter Frederick

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn baseball and head coach Butch Thompson added to the program's 2020 recruiting class with the announcement of Carter Frederick's signing Monday afternoon.

Frederick is a two-way player from Chelsea, Alabama, He is a product of Chelsea High School and also competes for Dulin's Dodgers.

"Coach Thompson is a great guy who comes from a great family, and he really is one of the key reasons I chose Auburn," Frederick said. "I feel like I'm not only going to be coached in baseball, but also for later on in life. My excitement to join the program is through the roof."

  • Position: Right-handed pitcher/outfielder
  • Height/Weight: 6-4, 225 lbs.

Frederick is rated by Perfect Game as a top 350 player nationally and the No. 13 player in the state. He was named a 2019 Perfect Game Preseason Third Team All-American and to the 2019 WWBA World Championship All-Tournament Team. Frederick has also won a BCS or WWBA Championship in each of the last three seasons.

A two-way player at Chelsea, Frederick earned 2019 ASWA Class 6A Honorable Mention All-State honors after hitting .387 with 15 doubles, four home runs and 38 RBI as a junior. He is a .346 career hitter at the high school level and has also made 16 appearances on the mound. Frederick is a two-time all-county honoree and was named the 2019 Shelby County Offensive Player of the Year. He made the 2019 AL.com All-Birmingham Team and competed in the AHSAA North/South All-Star Game.
