As the offseason rolls along, we'd like to introduce the newcomers for the upcoming 2020 softball season. With first pitch set for Feb. 7 in Clearwater, Fla., at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, we'll check in with all 13 new additions to the squad.
Carlee McCondichie, a freshman utility player out of Gardendale, Ala., is up next.
Q: Why did you choose to play softball at Auburn?
McCondichie: Auburn is the best place in the world. The people, the town and the culture are all unrivaled. Athletics on The Plains are better than those on any other campus!
Q: Which do you prefer, hitting or defense?
McCondichie: Hitting. I love to use my triple-threat power being a slapper. I love to be sneaky and run the bases as well.
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
McCondichie: Christmas is my favorite holiday. It really is the happiest time of the year!
Q: Do you have any pregame superstitions?
McCondichie: No. Surprisingly, I am not superstitious at all.
Q: If Auburn Softball could play in a tournament anywhere in the world, where would you want to play?
McCondichie: I would like to play somewhere out of the country because I have never traveled anywhere outside of the United States.
Q: What is the best trip you've ever been on?
McCondichie: My favorite trip was to Huntington Beach, Calif. We went to play in a tournament and won the 16u PGF National Championship.
Q: What is your favorite dessert?
McCondichie: Chocolate chip cookies! Best creation ever, especially during the holidays.
Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three teammates would you bring with you?
McCondichie: Maddy [Koepke] , Maddie [Majors] and Madi [Perry]. We always have lots of fun together, and we would be laughing the whole time.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be?
McCondichie: A superpower I would love to have would be being the fastest human in the world. That way I can run bases really fast and have the most stolen bases in the NCAA.
Q: What has been the highlight of your softball career so far?
McCondichie: Winning the 16u Premier PGF National Championship. Bolts Boom!
Q: If you could give a message to the Auburn family would what it be?
McCondichie: To the Auburn softball fans - Thank you so much for your support and energy you bring to Jane B. Moore Field! Let's keep it up this spring. War Eagle!
