AUBURN, Ala. – A trio of juniors in Taylor St. Jacques, Taylor Searles and Deanna Green of the No. 1 Auburn equestrian team were named SEC January Riders of the Month, the league office announced Wednesday.
The group helped the Tigers kick off the spring season with a 13-7 victory at UC Davis, Jan. 31. Searles and St. Jacques were also recognized by the NCEA for their efforts.
Green, of Ocala, Fla., earned her second SEC Reining Rider of the Week honor of the season after picking up a win on the road at UC Davis. She scored a 66.5 to beat her opponent's 0 and earned her sixth victory of the year in the event.
St. Jacques, of Glen Allen, Va., picked up the honor in Fences after earning MOP honors for her ride vs. the Aggies and helping Auburn go 3-2 overall in the event on the road. Her 85 points led all Tigers in the event as she bested her opponent by 13 points and her score was her second highest of the season. The MOP nod was St. Jacques first of the year.
Searles put together a big ride in Horsemanship to take home the monthly award, picking up a win and guiding the squad to a 4-1 victory vs. the Aggies in the event.
The Scottsdale, Ariz., product earned her second MOP of the season scoring a 75.5 in her win. That score was the highest of the day in the event and she defeated her opponent by four points.
Auburn returns to the Plains next weekend for a contest vs. nationally-ranked Baylor. The Tigers and the Bears will face off Saturday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m. CT at the Auburn University Equestrian Center.
