No. 1 Auburn returns home to face No. 9 Baylor Saturday

AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 1 Auburn equestrian team returns home to the Auburn University Equestrian Center for a Saturday contest with No. 9 Baylor. The Tigers and the Bears face off at 10 a.m. CT and admission is free.

"We are so excited to be back home against a really good Baylor program," head coach Greg Williams said. "Baylor will be coming here ready to ride and we are so cohesive right now that I'm looking forward to this competition. Having a big crowd here is always huge for us so we're excited to be energized from our fans and go out and compete hard."

PROMOTIONS
Highlighting Saturday's activities for the fans is the Kia of Auburn Dirty Car promotion. The dirtiest car at every home meet will receive a coupon book from Kia of Auburn!

In addition, Aubie Bobbletails will be handed while supplies last.

As always, the Kid's Zone will be set up with a bounce house, pony rides, a coloring station and yard games.

AUBURN LINEUP
Auburn's (10-0) lineup remains consistent as the undefeated Tigers take on the Bears.

The Horsemanship crew is highlighted by three upperclassmen in senior Kara Kaufmann and juniors Deanna Green and Taylor Searles. Green is 9-0-1 on the season in the event to lead the Tigers and Searles enters the weekend as the NCEA and SEC Rider of the Month.

Joining the trio are freshmen Olivia Tordoff and Maddie Spak. Tordoff is second on the team with eight wins in the event, while Spak has five on the year.

The Reining lineup will be the same as last week with juniors Terri-June Granger and Green leading the pack. Granger has a team-best eight victories, while Green is the SEC January Rider of the Month in reining.

A trio of freshmen join the two in Boo Kammerer, Jen Kasper and Kayla Shelnutt. Kasper is second on the team with seven wins, including three straight on the road. Shelnutt picked up her fourth win of the year at Georgia, while securing her first MOP honor this season.

The Jumping Seat corps is full of experience with junior Taylor St. Jacques and sophomores Emma Kurtz and McKayla Langmeier leading the way. The three will compete in both Fences and Flat for the Tigers vs. the Bears.

Joining them in both events will be freshman Ava Stearns. Sophomore Meghan Knapic will ride in Fences and freshman Paige Matthies is down for Flat.

SERIES HISTORY
Auburn leads the series vs. Baylor with an 11-2 overall record.

The two teams last met at the 2018 NCEA Championships where Auburn captured a 12-3 victory in the quarterfinals. The Tigers are also 6-0 vs. the Bears in meets competed in Auburn.

Auburn takes a week off of competition before returning to the Auburn University Equestrian Center on Feb. 29. The Tigers face South Carolina in an SEC match up and the meet is set for 11 a.m. CT.
