Bounceback Win For Men's Tennis At Nebraska

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men's tennis team even up its Midwest road trip with a 6-1 road win against Nebraska at the Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb., on Sunday.

Auburn started strong, picking up the doubles point. Playing on court two, Tom Wright and Finn Murgett posted a 6-1 win, and then Anders Fry and Diego Chavarria fought to a 7-6 victory on court three, winning that tiebreaker 7-5 to clinch the doubles point.

The Tigers kept the focus in singles, capturing the first set in five of six matches. Freshman Tyler Stice was the first to finish, posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over Patrick Cacciatore on court three. Freshman Spencer Gray was a 6-3, 6-2 winner on court six over Bradley Mittleman, and junior Matteo DeVincentis clinched the win for the Tigers with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Andre Saleh on court four.

In the remaining matches, senior Tim Dollman posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over Albert Sprlak-Puk on court one, and freshman Finn Murgett came through with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Shunya Maruyama on court five.

The Tigers are now 6-1 while Nebraska is 0-3. Auburn returns home for a pair of matches Friday, February 7, against Florida State (noon) and The Citadel (5 p.m.). All Auburn home tennis action is at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn) and admission is free.
