BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Auburn's Jovan Rebula and Alex Vogelsong each earned recognition from the Southeastern Conference Wednesday afternoon. Rebula was named the SEC Golfer of the Week, while Vogelsong earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
It is Rebula's first recognition as the conference's top golfer of the week and Vogelsong's first career honor from the SEC.
Rebula guided the Tigers to a sixth-place finish at the Amer Ari Invitational that featured six ranked teams, including three inside the top five. Auburn was just six strokes away from the team title.
The senior shot under par in all three rounds at the par-72 Kings' Course in Waikoloa, Hawai'i. Rebula tied for sixth at 10-under (68-68-70--206) and was the top finisher on the team for the fourth time this season.
The George, South Africa native scored 13 birdies and an eagle, while only tallying four bogeys in 54 holes of play en route to his third top-10 finish of the 2019-20 campaign.
Vogelsong, who turned in his fourth and fifth below-par rounds of the season, carded 13 birdies in his three circuits of the course.
The Palm City, Fla. native tied for 44th overall at 2-under (71-75-68--214) at the Amer Ari Invitational. His final round 68 was his third round in the 60s in his first season with the Tigers.
Auburn returns to the course Feb. 21-23 for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
