AUBURN, Ala. – After a successful opening to the spring slate, the No. 14 Auburn men's golf team returns to the course Feb. 21-23 for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. The Tigers are part of a 20-team field that is set for three rounds at the par-72, 7,305-yard Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.
It is Auburn's second appearance in the annual tournament. The Tigers last took part in the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in 2012 and finished third.
"We are excited to be out west and playing the Classic Club," head coach Nick Clinard said. "The golf course is in excellent shape and the weather is ideal for scoring. The team is playing well, and I look forward to watching us compete this week."
Auburn is joined for the three-day tournament by No. 8 Colorado State, Boise State, Charlotte, Colorado, CSUN, Denver, FAU, Fresno State, New Mexico State, North Texas, Oregon, San Diego, Seattle, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, TCU, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and UT Arlington.
The Tigers' lineup for the weekend consists of Graysen Huff, Andrew Kozan, Brandon Mancheno, Wells Padgett and Jovan Rebula, while Jake Milanowski and Alex Vogelsong will compete as individuals.
Auburn is coming off a sixth-place finish at the Amer Ari Invitational to begin the spring season that featured a loaded field of six ranked teams, including three inside the top five. The Tigers were just six strokes away from the team title.
Rebula, the 18th-ranked golfer in the country according to Golfweek, was named the Southeastern Conference Golf of the Week. The senior tied for sixth at 10-under and had 13 birdies and an eagle with just four bogeys across 54 holes.
Vogelsong earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after securing his fourth and fifth below-par rounds of the season en route to a tie for 44th overall at 2-under.
