Tigers go low, lead the field at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – The No. 14 Auburn men's golf team carded the lowest round of the day, a 5-under 283, to take over the top spot in the standings after the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers (563) are ahead of the 21-team field by three strokes, leading Charlotte (566), Boise State (573), Denver (574) and North Texas (575) to round out the top five following two rounds at the par-72 Classic Club.

Brandon Mancheno and Jovan Rebula remained inside the top 10 individually after their second rounds of the tournament.

Mancheno, who is tied for sixth at 4-under (69-71--140), started the day with an even-par front nine and then shook off a pair of bogeys with four birdies in his final seven holes.

Rebula, who is tied for ninth at 3-under (69-72--141), totaled a team-high 14 pars en route to even-par round.

Graysen Huff and Andrew Kozan are part of a seven-way tie for 16th at 2-under. Huff (70-72--142) was even on both the front and back nine, while Kozan (72-70--142) used a 2-under front nine to highlight his day.

Wells Padgett rounded out the lineup and had six birdies, tied for the most by an Auburn golfer on the afternoon. He is tied for 23rd at 1-under (73-70--143).

Competing as individuals, Alex Vogelsong is tied for 43rd at 3-over (73-74--147), while Jake Milanowski is tied for 55th at 5-over (75-74--149).

The Tigers are paired with Boise State, Charlotte and Denver for the final round on Sunday, beginning at 10:40 a.m. CT off the No. 1 tee box. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
