PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Highlighted by five Tigers finishing inside the top 15, the No. 14 Auburn men's golf captured the team title at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon at the Classic Club.
It is the Tigers' second tournament crown of the season after earning the top spot in the Kiawah Classic to close out the fall schedule.
"It was a good weekend and we just got better every day," head coach Nick Clinard said. "In the first round, we played some really good golf. We played well in the second round despite it being really windy. Today, the guys played some great golf, led by Graysen Huff."
Auburn shot 22-under (842) for the three-day tournament and finished 18 strokes ahead of second place Charlotte (860).
Huff, who finished second at 7-under (70-72-67--209), saved his best for last with a 5-under 67 in his final tour of the par-72 course. The senior racked up five birdies and an eagle en route to his lowest round of the weekend.
Brandon Mancheno finished just one stroke behind huff at 6-under (69-71-70--210). The junior had 14 pars and three birdies in his final round to tie for third overall.
Rounding out the Tiger contingent in the top 10 was Jovan Rebula, who tied for ninth at 4-under (69-72-71--212). The senior was nearly flawless in his third round, combating a double-bogey on the fourth hole with 14 pars and three birdies.
Andrew Kozan (72-70-72--214) and Wells Padgett (73-70-71--214) finished in a tie for 13th overall at 2-under. The duo had10 birdies on the day and combined to shoot 2-under on the front nine.
Alex Vogelsong turned his lowest card of the weekend Sunday and rose to finish in a tie for 28th at even par (73-74-69--216). The freshman scored five birdies on the day, including four on the front nine.
Continuing the theme and completing the Tiger lineup, Jake Milanowski shot his lowest round of the season with a 1-over 73 en route to a tie for 53rd at 6-over (75-74-73--222). The sophomore had a team-best 15 pars in his last round of the tournament.
The Tigers return to the course March 8-10 when they host the annual Tiger Invitational at Grand National in Opelika, Ala.
