AUBURN, Ala. – No. 14 Auburn snapped its eight-game winning streak by falling to Georgia Tech, 6-2, Tuesday night at Plainsman Park.

The Tigers fell behind after giving up a run in the first and another in the second and never made up the deficit.

"We didn't have that one swing that really got us going tonight and ignited us," head coach Butch Thompson said. "When you don't have that, it just kind of looks like there's nothing going on. We just didn't get that one at-bat or that one big hit tonight to really draw into a close ballgame for most of the evening."

Auburn (13-4) cut the lead to one as the Tigers drew four straight walks to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second.

Georgia Tech (11-5) loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the third, but Richard Fitts minimized the damage in relief as he allowed one run to score on a sacrifice fly.

The Tigers again drew back to one as Ryan Bliss scored on a wild pitch in the third. However, the team couldn't break through, leaving seven runners on in the second through fourth inning.

Fitts pitched 2.2 hitless and scoreless in relief until surrendering a solo home run to Baron Radcliff in the fifth. Radcliff came back around to hit a RBI double off the wall in left in the seventh before a hit-by-pitch and pair of passed balls led to the final run in the ninth.

Freshman Mason Barnett pitched 2.2 scoreless inning in relief and stuck out a season high five batters. He entered the game with runners on second and third and one out in the seventh and escaped the jam with a double play.

Brody Moore collected two of Auburn's four hits, marking his sixth game this season with multiple hits.

"That's the beautiful thing about baseball. You're right back out here tomorrow," Thompson added.

Auburn hosts Wofford (13-3) Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park before opening SEC play vs. No. 23 Texas A&M (15-3) this weekend.
