OPELIKA, Ala. – The No. 10 Auburn men's golf team saved its best for last as it fired a tournament-low 11-under 277 in the final round of the Tiger Invitational to capture the title Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers have won three of their last four tournaments in the 2019-20 season.
"We've played some pretty good golf these last few tournaments," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We're gelling well, and we have a great culture. I like our team moving forward. We've got a lot of depth."
The Tigers' depth was on full display throughout the weekend as the Auburn "B" Team finished second in the 20-team field at the par-72 Grand National Lake Course.
"Having the top-two teams speaks volumes to our depth," Clinard added. "That's why these young men chose to go to Auburn University. They chose to come here, get better, play great golf and play against the best competition in the country. I'm so proud of our guys."
Auburn's two teams finished nine strokes ahead of third-place ULM. Both of the Tiger teams were the groups to finish the tournament below par.
C.J. Easley led the way for Auburn with a second-place finish at 8-under (68-71-69--208), just one stroke away from the individual title. The freshman had 17 birdies on the weekend and just seven bogeys out of 54 holes.
Jovan Rebula and Alex Vogelsong joined Easley in the top 10. Vogelsong used a 4-under 68 final round to finish the week in a tie for third overall at 5-under (72-71-68--211). Rebula secured his fifth consecutive finish inside the top 15 with a tie for sixth at 3-under (71-72-70--213).
Andrew Kozan and Graysen Huff recorded their fifth and fourth top-20 finish of the season, respectively. Kozan was one of 13 players to go below par and tied for 11th at 1-under (69-75-71--215). Huff capped off his week in a tie for 17th at 1-over (69-73-75--217).
Jake Milanowski used five birdies and an eagle in the final round to finish in a tie for 23rd at 2-over (72-73-73--218).
Brandon Mancheno fired the lowest round of the week by any player and a career low with a 7-under 65, highlighted by three eagles and three birdies. Mancheno tied for 28th at 3-over (78-76-65--219).
Austin Coggin, Reagan Harrell and Wells Padgett rounded out the lineup for the Tigers. Coggin tied for 32nd at 4-over (72-77-71--220), while Padgett finished at 5-over (72-78-71--221) in a tie for 27th. Harrell ended the week in 95th at 20-over (82-76-78--236).
Auburn makes the short turnaround as it returns to the course March 16-17 for the Valspar Collegiate in Palm City, Fla.
