AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Skyler Sheppard was selected by the Southeastern Conference to represent Auburn on the 2020 SEC Community Service Team, the league announced Monday.
It's an honor that highlights athletes from each school in the SEC who give back to their communities in superior service efforts.
Sheppard has been active in the Auburn community throughout her time on the Plains. She volunteered 12 hours a week with the Lee County Literacy Coalition and spent every Wednesday with the Opelika Boys and Girls Club.
In addition, Sheppard took part in the many team volunteer activities. She and the Tigers visited local elementary schools during university breaks to teach students fundamentals of gymnastics. Sheppard also took part in door openings during the mornings at elementary schools, while also volunteering during recess hours to play games with school kids.
To add to her many activities, Sheppard has spent time at the Ronald McDonald House and has been a consistent participant on Read Aloud Day. She was also a part of the Breakfast Club at Drake Middle School, speaking to students about everyday situations and how to handle them.
Sheppard finished her career at Auburn as one of the team's top performers on beam this season as well as a consistent contributor on vault and floor.
