Auburn with 12 NCEA All-America honors

AUBURN, Ala. – Nine student-athletes on the No. 1 Auburn equestrian team totaled 12 National Collegiate Equestrian Association Ariat All-America honors, the NCEA selection committee announced Friday.

The 12 All-America honors is the second most in NCEA history since the organization began the recognition in 2011. Auburn set the record last season with 19.

"I love seeing the recognition coming in for this team as they finished an incredible, undefeated season," head coach Greg Williams said. "These awards are not only a reflection of athletes buying into a team mentality to yield individual results, but also of the amazing preparation plans developed with coaches Jessica Braswell and Mary Meneely."

Three of Auburn's Jumping Seat competitors earned the national award in both Fences and Flat.

Sophomore McKayla Langmeier picked up a pair of first team honors for the second-straight season. The East Granby, Conn., product concluded her year with a 23-6-0 mark between the two events, going 12-3-0 in Flat and 11-3-0 in Fences. She picked up five Flat MOP honors over the year to go with her two in Fences.

Classmate Emma Kurtz and freshman Ava Stearns also represented the squad in both events. Kurtz secured first team honors in Fences with a 10-4-0 record, while adding second team recognition in Flat after going 11-3-1 in the event.

Stearns, of Chilmark, Mass., had an outstanding first year on the Plains as she went 15-4-1 overall. She earned first team honors in Flat with a 7-1-1 record and her 8-3-0 record in Fences secured second team.

Junior Taylor St. Jacques put together the best Flat season in program history to be placed on the first team, going 12-1-0 overall. The recognition marked the third-straight year on the first team for the Glen Allen, Va., native. St. Jacques led the team with seven MOPs in the event.

Five student-athletes were honored on the Western side of competition, including three on the first team.

The Horsemanship corps was led by junior Deanna Green and freshman Olivia Tordoff. Green, of Ocala, Fla., finished with an outstanding 11-1-1 record in the event with three MOPs. Tordoff joined her on the first team as the Powell, Ohio, native had a great first year with an 11-2-0 mark.

Junior Terri-June Granger represented the Tigers on the Reining first team, having an impressive 11-2-0 mark in the event. The Dothan, Ala., product picked up four MOP honors on the year, including two to close out the season.

Junior Taylor Searles and freshman Kayla Shelnutt were each placed on the second team in their respective events. Searles went 9-4-0 in Horsemanship with three MOPs, while Shelnutt had a 6-1-1 mark in Reining.

The Tigers concluded the 2019-20 season with a 13-0 record, marking the second-straight undefeated season for the program.
