Auburn gears up for Jacksonville, Georgia State midweek swing

AUBURN, Ala. – With a quick break from Southeastern Conference competition, Auburn softball (14-11, 0-3 SEC) returns to non-conference play with back-to-back midweek tests against Jacksonville University (15-10) and Georgia State (7-15)

The midweek swing begins on Tuesday as Auburn rounds out its four-game Florida road swing with a stop at Jacksonville University on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT on ESPN+.

The Tigers return to Jane B. Moore Field Wednesday night, hosting Georgia State at 7 p.m. CT on the SEC Network +. JJ Jackson (play-by-play) and Mark Fuller (analyst) will have the call.

Fans can tune into both contests via the Auburn Sports Network.

LEADING OFF

  • Auburn continues its four-game road swing with a midweek tilt at Jacksonville on Tuesday before returning to Jane B. Moore Field on Wednesday for a midweek clash with Georgia State.
  • The Tigers are playing their first Tuesday contest under the Mickey Dean era when they face the Dolphins. It is also Auburn's first meeting with Jacksonville since 2009.
  • Wednesday marks the 16th consecutive season that Auburn has faced Georgia State, which dates back to the 2005 season. The Tigers lead the all-time series 18-5, winning the last nine meetings.
  • With a stolen base against the Gators, Alyssa Rivera brought her career total to 35 to tie Kim Blair (1997-99) for fifth in program history. She is just three away from moving into fourth
  • Head coach Mickey Dean is now just six wins away from his 100th at Auburn with a 94-49 overall record.
  • With just two strikeouts over her 75 at-bats, junior Makenna Dowell ranks as the second toughest player in the SEC to strike out with a 37.5 average. The mark is good for 26th in all of Division I softball.
  • Senior Alyssa Rivera enters Auburn's midweek tilt with an active 10-game reached base streak.
  •  Behind her impressive 10-inning performance at No. 7 Florida, Samantha Yarbrough lowered her season ERA to 1.18, the eighth lowest among all SEC pitchers.

Auburn returns to SEC play over the weekend, hosting No. 23 Missouri for the Tigers' conference home opener. The series begins on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT on the SEC Network +.
