Auburn set to take on Georgia Tech, Wofford prior to SEC play

AUBURN, Ala. – Prior to Southeastern Conference play starting this weekend, No. 14 Auburn (13-3) is set to take on Georgia Tech (10-5, 2-1 ACC) and Wofford (13-3) Tuesday and Wednesday at Plainsman Park. First pitch in both contests is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.

Tuesday's game against the Yellow Jackets is the first of 10 Auburn baseball games to be nationally televised this season. The game will air of SEC Network.

QUICK HITTERS

Auburn enters the week on an eight-game winning streak. The team has outscored its opponents 86-16 and is hitting .375 during the stretch.

The Tigers currently lead the NCAA in batting average (.346) and lead the SEC in hits (197) and doubles (48). The team also ranks fourth in the country in runs (153).

Auburn totaled 48 hits in three games vs. Chicago State, marking the most hits in a three-game series since 2011.

Five players turned in multiple hits in all three games against the Cougars.

Rankin Woley is riding a career best 10-game hitting streak. He has multiple hits in five of the last six games and is hitting .545 with 14 RBI during the span.

Matt Scheffler also has multiple hits in five of the last six games. He is hitting .565 during the team's current winning streak.

SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS

Georgia Tech enters the week with a 10-5 overall record and took two of three games against Virginia Tech in its ACC opener last weekend.

Auburn holds a 121-111-6 advantage in the series that dates back to 1897. The two teams have split the last 18 contests dating back to 2003.

The Yellow Jackets are hitting .279 as a team and are led by Michael Guldberg's .473 clip.

The team has turned in a 3.76 ERA on the mound and has struck out 163 batters in 134.0 innings.

SCOUTING THE TERRIERS

Wofford enters the week with a 13-3 overall record and has won six straight games. The team outscored La Salle 25-5 in three games last weekend.

Wednesday marks the first meeting between the Tigers and Terrier since 2013 and the fourth all-time. Auburn holds a 2-1 edge in the series.

The Terriers are hitting .319 as a team and are led by Lawson Hill's .488 mark. Colin Davis leads the team with four home runs and is the younger brother of Conor Davis.

Wofford has posted a 3.13 ERA on the season and is holding opponents to a .234 batting average against.

Fans attending the Auburn baseball game are advised to park in the Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum lot, the Stadium Parking Deck off Heisman Drive, or the Athletics Complex Parking Deck.

New for 2020, alcohol may be purchased in the Tiger Terrace. Any fan with a purchased game ticket may enter without a pass or additional ticket and purchase either beer or wine with proof of ID. Alcohol sales end after the top of the seventh. No alcohol may leave the Tiger Terrace, and outside food or drink is no longer permissible.

Grass areas around the park and adjacent parking lots are open for tailgating.
