APR recognition: 12 Auburn teams achieve perfect scores

AUBURN, Ala. – It was another banner year for Auburn Athletics in the classroom with 12 of the 19 teams posting a perfect 1,000 Academic Progress Rate for the 2018-19 scoring period, up three from the year before. The APR scores were released Tuesday by the NCAA. 

"We congratulate our student-athletes for their superior academic performance, as evidenced by these stellar APR scores," Director of Athletics Allen Greene said. "Our academic counselors and coaches are to be commended as well for their commitment to developing Auburn women and men who are well-rounded scholars, champions and leaders."

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. It accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

Of the 12 Auburn teams who achieved a perfect score, seven also received an APR Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for posting a multiyear Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent among the teams in their sport, which was tied for second-most in the SEC. Those teams included men's basketball, men's golf, women's cross country, women's golf, gymnastics, soccer and volleyball. 

The other five teams to earn a perfect score in the most recent scoring period were men's cross country, men's track, women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, and equestrian. 

For men's basketball, it's the third straight year with a perfect 1,000 APR score. Football finished with a score of 976 for the 2018-19 academic year and now has a multiyear rate (2015-19) of 980 with a total of 383 student-athletes represented in that time frame. 

All 19 Auburn teams have a multiyear APR above 970.
