A new crop of Tigers is on The Plains and ready to get to work. Follow along over the next few weeks as we re-introduce our 2020 class through a question and answer segment with each player.
Our third member of the 2020 signing class is freshman forward Mallory Mooney. The Colorado Gatorade Player of the Year, Mooney comes to Auburn from Broomfield, Colorado, and is a product of Broomfield High School and the Colorado Rapids.
Q: Who or what inspired you to play soccer?
A: My parents inspired me to play soccer. They were both D1 athletes at Florida State University, and they have pushed me to where I am today.
Q: What is your favorite soccer memory growing up?
A: My favorite soccer memory growing up was getting to play in the state championship game at the Colorado Rapids stadium. The atmosphere was amazing and it was such a fun experience.
Q: What is your biggest accomplishment on or off the field?
A: My biggest accomplishment is receiving the Gatorade Player of the Year award. After my brother one it in 2018, it became a goal of mine to win the award.
Q: Do you have any pre-match superstitions?
A: My superstition is that I always have to put my right sock and right shoe on first before games.
Q: What made you choose Auburn?
A: I chose Auburn because of the great soccer program and coaching staff. I also love all the traditions Auburn has.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: My favorite Auburn tradition is the Iron Bowl and rolling Toomer's corner.
Q: What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
A: For this upcoming season, I'm most excited to experience playing at the next level with new people from all over the country.
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life I would eat steak with potatoes on the side and some watermelon.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: If I could have any superpower, I would want to fly so I could look down on places from above and travel faster.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: My favorite TV show is The Office because it's hilarious. I've watched the whole series about 10 times.
Q: What major do you plan to pursue and what do you want to do with it?
A: I am majoring in exercise science and I plan to become a soccer coach so I can help others become better at soccer and achieve their goals.
Q: What are your goals during your time at Auburn?
A: My goals while I am at Auburn are to help my team win a SEC Championship and to graduate with an exercise science degree.
Q: What do you hope to do when your playing days are over?
A: After my playing days are over, I hope to coach a high level soccer team and to start a family.
