A new crop of Tigers is on The Plains and ready to get to work. Follow along over the next few weeks as we re-introduce our 2020 class through a question and answer segment with each player.
We continue this week with three more newcomers, beginning with freshman midfielder Sammie Brown. Brown makes her way to The Plains from Morgantown, West Virginia. She is a product of Morgantown High School and FC Alliance Athletica.
Q: Who or what inspired you to play soccer?
A: My mom inspired me to play soccer from a young age. She always reminded me that with hard work you can achieve anything.
Q: What is your favorite soccer memory growing up?
A: My favorite soccer memory growing up is attending overnight soccer camp with my team. We all stayed in dorms together, went to the pool, and played lots of soccer.
Q: What is your biggest accomplishment on or off the field?
A: My biggest accomplishment on the field is winning the state champion with my high school soccer team. My team and I worked hard for four years and we were finally able to win the state title my senior year.
Q: Do you have any pre-match superstitions?
A: I do not have any pre-match superstitions, but I am always sure to get a good long stretch before a game.
Q: What made you choose Auburn?
A: I chose Auburn for the staff, team and atmosphere. I knew this was a place that would challenge me and help me grow as a player and person. I also knew the team and staff would welcome me with open arms and become my second family.
Q: What is your favorite Auburn tradition?
A: My favorite Auburn tradition is rolling Toomer's Corner. Although I have only done this once, the atmosphere and energy of the people there was unmatched. It was very exciting to watch the Auburn fans celebrate their school.
Q: What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
A: I am most excited to start playing games with my team. We have a strong upper class and a lot of new freshman so it should be an exciting year!
Q: If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
A: My meal would be pasta. I don't think I could ever get sick of it, plus there are a variety of sauces to choose for it.
Q: If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?
A: My superpower would be the ability to fly. Then I would be able to get to places very quickly and easily.
Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?
A: My favorite TV show is Gossip Girl. I have already re-watched it three times and it is still so good every time.
Q: What major do you plan to pursue and what do you want to do with it?
A: I am going in undecided but I will be taking some science classes this year and may pursue pharmacy in the future.
Q: What are your goals during your time at Auburn?
A: My goals are to help my team become SEC Champions and to make it to the Elite 8. I hope as a player I can work hard to become an All-American. As a student-athlete, my goal is to maintain a high GPA throughout my four years.
Q: What do you hope to do when your playing days are over?
A: After I am done playing soccer, I hope to have a job in a field that I enjoy and to start a family eventually.
