The Auburn men's tennis team got off to a strong start Friday at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, winning five singles matches in play against Kentucky.

Tyler Stice, Finn Murgett, Tom Wright, Spencer Gray and Maxwell Giddens each picked up singles victories over their opponents from Kentucky. Wright and Giddens also paired up for Auburn's only doubles win of the day, an 8-7 victory over Joshua Lapadat and Gabriel Diallo.

The invitational competition features participants from SEC schools Vanderbilt, Auburn, Arkansas and Kentucky; all matches are being held at the Currey Tennis Center.

The Tigers will go up against host Vanderbilt Saturday morning and will compete against Arkansas Sunday morning. The schools will be playing a number of singles and doubles matches each day to gain experience for their entire lineups.
