Freshman Tyler Stice was the overall singles winner and Auburn's tandem of Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett were the winners in doubles at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville this weekend.
Stice went 3-0 in singles, defeating Maxim Verboven of Arkansas Sunday by a 6-1, 6-2 score. On Saturday, Stice topped Vanderbilt's George Harwell (Vandy) in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. He started the weekend with another three-set win over Millen Hurrion of Kentucky, 2-6, 7-6, 6-0.
In doubles, Maclean and Murgett went 2-1; their 8-1 defeat of Nico Rousset and Alex Reco of Arkansas on Sunday followed up an 8-5 Saturday win over Max Freeman and Jeremie Casabon of Vanderbilt.
During the weekend, Auburn posted 16 wins in singles and totaled six doubles victories. The invitational competition featured participants from SEC schools Vanderbilt, Auburn, Arkansas and Kentucky; all matches were held at the Currey Tennis Center in Nashville.
