Auburn in the NFL: Week 6 rundownAuburn in the NFL: Week 6 rundown

A pick six from Jamel Dean highlighted another impressive weekend that included an interception from Jonathan Jones, a touchdown from Darius Slayton and another career milestone for Cam Newton. That and more in this week's Auburn in the NFL rundown.

BEST OF WEEK 6

Derrick Brown, DL, Carolina Panthers
It was another solid week for Brown, the Panthers' first round pick. He had three tackles and posted another tackle for loss, his sixth of the season. He also enjoyed his best outing as a pass rusher with three QB pressures, including one that led to an interception from Chicago Bears' quarterback Nick Foles. He earned an overall PFF grade of 70.3 for his performance.

Carlton Davis, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Teammate and fellow Auburn cornerback Jamel Dean stole the show with his pick six Sunday, but Davis more than did his part in the Buccaneers' 38-10 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The third-year player finished with six tackles and a season-high four passes defended. It was the third straight week Davis has had two or more passes defended, and since the start of last season, he leads the NFL with 29.

Jamel Dean, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Add Dean's name to the list of Auburn players to score a touchdown this season. Early in the second quarter Sunday, Dean intercepted Aaron Rodgers and ran it back 32 yards for a touchdown. It was the first career touchdown for Dean who also added two tackles and a pass defended to help the Bucs beat the Green Bay Packers, 38-10. The second-year player now has an overall PFF grade of 90.5, which ranks second among all NFL cornerbacks. His coverage grade (90.7) is tops at the position.

Jonathan Jones, CB, New England Patriots
Jones played arguably his best game of the season Sunday. The former undrafted free agent allowed as many completions as he made (1) as he tracked down his first interception of the season with a sensational grab late in the fourth quarter. He had three passes defended and finished with four tackles, giving him 26 on the season. Through Week 6, Jones has an overall PFF grade of 71.5, which ranks No. 19 at the cornerback position.

Cam Newton, QB, New England Patriots
After missing the last two weeks, Newton returned Sunday and completed 17 of 25 passes for 157 yards. He also rushed for 76 yards on 10 carries and scored his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. He even caught a pass for 16 yards. With 76 yards on the ground, Newton became only the second quarterback in NFL history to go over 5,000 career rushing yards. The first was Michael Vick. Newton is now the only player in NFL history with 25,000 career passing yards and 5,000 career rushing yards.

Darius Slayton, WR, New York Giants
Slayton only caught two passes Sunday, but one of them went for a 23-yard touchdown to help the Giants secure their first victory of the season over the Washington Football Team on Sunday. On the play, Slayton made a tough over-the-shoulder grab in the back corner of the end zone. It was his third touchdown of the season, and with 41 yards receiving on the day, he now has a team-high 406 yards receiving through six games.
