Tigers close strong in second round of Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Auburn men's golf team used strong play on the back nine to close out its second round of the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate Monday afternoon.

The Tiger contingent shook off a tough start by going 4-under on the back nine, highlighted by 10 birdies and 29 pars, to finish the day at 3-over (287).

Wells Padgett led the way for Auburn and is tied for 30th at 1-under (71-70--141) overall. The senior tied for team highs in both birdies (three) and pars (13) in his second circuit of the par-71 Vanderbilt Legends Club.

J.M. Butler is tied with Padgett for 30th at 1-under (69-72--141). The freshman also matched Padgett's par total of 13 and added a birdie on both the front and back nine.

After starting the round at 3-over through three holes, Jovan Rebula produced a spotless final 15 holes that included three back-nine birdies in his second round of the week. The senior is tied for 39th at even par (71-71--142).

Alex Vogelsong and Andrew Kozan rounded out the Tigers' lineup. Vogelsong is tied with Rebula for 39th at even par (67-75--142), while Kozan is tied for 64th at 6-over (74-74--148).

Vanderbilt leads the field at 32-under (536), followed by Texas A&M (546) and Georgia (547). Auburn is in 12th at 3-under (565).

The Tigers are paired with Missouri and South Carolina for the final round Tuesday, beginning at 9:55 a.m. CT off the No. 10 tee box. Live stats can be found on Golfstat.com.
