Auburn baseball announces guidelines for fall practice

AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn baseball program announced guidelines for the Tigers fall practice schedule Monday.

Remaining consistent with current health and safety guidelines, fall practices and scrimmages, which are set to begin Tuesday, Oct. 13, will be closed to the public and media. Head coach Butch Thompson and select players will be available to speak with the media via Zoom on a weekly basis.

Auburn returns seven of nine everyday position players and 11 pitchers who appeared in a game last season. Headlining the list are the team's top two returning hitters in Rankin Woley and Ryan Bliss as well as the entire outfield in Judd Ward, Kason Howell and Steven Williams. Returning hurlers Cody Greenhill, Jack Owen, Richard Fitts, Mason Barnett and a crop of others look carve out major roles on the mound.

The Tigers also welcome 11 newcomers, who were ranked as high as the No. 14 signing class in the country by Baseball America, this fall. It marks the fifth straight season Auburn has brought in a top-15 recruiting class. Six of the team's 11 newcomers were tabbed among the top incoming freshmen in the nation by Perfect Game.
