Tigers go low in second round of Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate

VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. – All five members of the Auburn men's golf team competing at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate shot even par or better in the second round of the annual event Monday. The Tigers were the only team to boast five rounds of even par or better.

After the opening 36 holes at the par-70 Old Overton Club, Auburn is in third at 15-under (273-272--545) and trails leaders Vanderbilt (542) by just three strokes heading into Tuesday's final round. Georgia (544) is in second.

All five Tigers are in the top 35 on the individual leaderboard, including inside the top 20.

Graysen Huff leads the way for the Auburn contingent and is tied for sixth at 6-under (65-69--134). The senior tied for a team-high 13 pars and had three birdies across his second tour of the course.

Jovan Rebula is just one shot behind Huff and tied for 12th at 4-under (69-67--136). The senior carded a team-best six birdies with five coming on the front nine during the second round.

Alex Vogelsong sits in a tie for 15th at 3-under (70-67--137) after 36 holes. After shaking off a bogey on the second hole Monday, the sophomore was flawless for the remainder of the round, totaling four birdies and 12 pars in his final 16 holes.

Wells Padgett is tied for 20th at 1-under (69-70--139). The senior racked up a triad of birdies - all in his opening six holes - to guide his even-par scorecard in the second round.

Rounding out the Tiger lineup, J.M. Butler is tied for 34th at 1-over (72-69--141). The freshman split four birdies between the front and back nine to guide his second tour of the course.

Auburn is paired with Georgia and Vanderbilt for the final round of the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, beginning Tuesday at 9:40 a.m. CT off the No. 1 tee. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
